Eclipsed: Musings on Sunlight & Gratitude & Living in Bend, OR

Eclipsed: Musings on Sunlight & Gratitude & Living in Bend, OR

EBGTB is nothing if not a point of departure. Vans and van-saving, sure. Excellent coffee and cart eats in Bend and Central Oregon, hellsyes. Call and response posts about grief? You are here. Laura recently wrote about what bubbled up after she read Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking. I’m gonna echo a little with some thoughts about poet Elizabeth Alexander’s The Light of the World, which she wrote after her exuberant Eritrean husband, Ficre Ghebreyesus dropped dead, catastrophically,…

Leaving Bend…

Leaving Bend…

Hey y’all, I have some news. Stop the Madness. Let Go.

I know I have dog park posts to write (I’ve been to all 7 off-leash parks but don’t feel like writing about doggy stuff tonight). I’ve been prepping a pound of Swiss chard from the garden for a slow-cooker lentil soup, listening to music, loving the new…

Bend or Bust

Bend or Bust

I broke up with my boyfriend 48 hours ago.46 hours ago, I called my family and told them I’m moving back to Oregon. But not to Eugene, my old stomping grounds. No, I’m moving to Bend.24 hours ago, I gave notice on my rental house — a craftsman, one block from the beach in Venice, CA.23 hours ago, I noticed a new neighbor, moving in down the street. I asked if I could snag his empty moving boxes. He said…
